The Inner Marvel That Allows The BedLounge® to Be So Light
Lighter than a down-filled comforter, and durable enough to have a lifetime warranty -- is its internal framework. The structural framework is plastic, surprisingly thin plastic configured into hardened, structural air channels.
BedLounge’s Secret is also Its Patent
Dr. Swezey’s secret lies in what he calls the “Active Frame”. Every key part of the BedLounge’s patented, internal Active Frame™ moves, flexes, adjusts, and takes on your body’s form – in every lounging position.
The BedLounge works differently, more thoroughly. Every part of your upper body: head, neck, shoulders, arms, upper back and lower back is supported. Its adjustability and contourability actually exceeds most recliners and lounge chairs. It can be carried easily with one hand. It weighs less than a down comforter. It folds up for compact storage requiring no more space than a laundry bag.
A Breakthrough – No Compromises
The BedLounge’s unique construction and engineering is, in short, a breakthrough – a fully upholstered, portable lounger-recliner for your bed and home, with more features and capabilities built into it than an adjustable bed, at a fraction of the cost.
It is the BedLounge’s internal framework that actively cradles and supports your body. It is this unique piece of engineering that lets you lounge back and even recline. We’ve shown in tests that 12 specialized pillows -- perfectly positioned -- fail to provide the range of support that the BedLounge’s internal frame does.
Authentic Ergonomic Comfort
So many products now claim “ergonomic” features that the term is devalued. Ergonomics means that the product is able to adapt and adjust itself to you, to your body’s shape and function – rather than you having to twist and bend, and otherwise contort yourself to suit its design flaws.
Little Known Fact:
Your body needs more distinct and different levels of support for all of its parts -- when you are sitting and reclining than at any other time.
The BedLounge is a true, ergonomically designed piece of furniture. With the BedLounge you control your comfort by controlling your own personalized support.
Beyond Ergonomics to Personalized Comfort
The BedLounge uses different densities and combinations of foam and fiber for each of these specific areas of your upper body. In this way your body’s weight is evenly distributed, producing a near-weightless lounging experience for the user. And it does it consistently, supporting you in any position from upright to lounging to reclining. Plainly stated: there is no product like the BedLounge on the market. No other product carries our unique Lifetime Warranty. No other similar products come remotely close.

Hardened Air Channels put “Nothing” Most seating and furniture makers would design an inner framework of wood, metal, or injection molded plastic. The BedLounge takes a decidedly different approach with its hardened air channel internal frame. The BedLounge’s structural framework does away with 66% of the weight that would be present if it were made in the conventional injection molding method. The air channels are tough and nearly indestructible (pop up recycle info). They distribute your body’s weight on their matrix of hollow chambers -- on walls only a millimeter in thickness. Put another way, they are able to support your body’s entire weight sitting upright, lounging, and reclining on a framework wall that is barely thicker than your fingernail! |

Inner Framework Die cut under 55 tons of pressure, the hardened air channel material is fashioned from flat sheet into a three-dimensional framework. It is something of a marvel itself even without the layers of foam, fiber, fabric, feather & down to be applied. |

Aircraft-Grade Polyurethane Foam Precision cut foam is used to create the underlying supportive layers of The BedLounge®. This is the “deep tissue” of the BedLounge®. Our foam specifications are tightly spec’d – aircraft grade. The densities and ILD’s (internal load deflection) specifications are designed for cradling resiliency. Soft enough to take on your body’s form and help evenly displace its weight -- yet firm enough to provide the necessary firmness, proper anatomical alignment, and posture. |

A Fleecy Cloud You Can Lounge On Gently “hovering” over the aircraft grade supportive foam, we put a rich layer of Spun Polyester Fiber. The fiber is a breathable material that is aerated with millions of spaces of intertwining air pockets. It is soft fiber spun into a durable froth. Air circulates through these airy spaces insulating your body and helping in maintaining a moderate, comfortable temperature against your skin. |

Composite Lamination: Fiber/Foam/Framework We laminate together the three structural elements: fiber, foam, and framework. They are fused into a “composite”, a layered, integrated combination. The fusing done with a fine application of latex adhesive. It must be applied by hand – “by feel” so that it doesn’t mat and flatten the fleecy fiber. The latex adhesive is misted on in such a way that it integrates, and bonds the spun fiber to the foam and then to the inner framework. It is the BedLounge’s fiber-foam-frame composite combination that acts as an airy, cloud-like cushion, almost like capturing a cloud for your body to rest on. Your body “floats” on this fibrous layer; your weight distributed evenly by the foam layer; and all the parts of the lounger able to adjust and proportion themselves to your body by means of the inner framework -- working in combination together to give you a stress-free lounging experience like no other! |

Inner Cover Encompassing the entire BedLounge body and headrest, to contain the composite fiber-foam framework, is an inner cover. One of the hallmarks of top-of-the-line seating and furniture is an inner, protective cover. Our inner cover actually serves a dual purpose: to protect the composite layers inside, and importantly, to add a layer of tautness, which adds further support to the BedLounge. Our inner covers are cut “on a bias” so that the direction in which the fabric “gives” will move with the BedLounge’s internal parts. Its panels are stitched for strength and long wear. |

Feather & Down A special mix of feather & down fill is used in the Lumbar Pillow and Headrest Insert. We size them specifically so that when strategically placed to cradle your head, neck, and back, the feather and down will thatch themselves, creating soft, yet pliable and conforming support. Our feathers & down are hygienically cleaned to international specifications. For the Lumbar Pillow we double-seal it, first in a sewn non-woven fabric case, then in a high-count cotton down-proof ticking case. This double-sealing exceeds the level on most down comforters. It helps ensure that the feathers & down will stay in the Lumbar Pillow and stand up to repeated shaping, contouring and plumping. |

Synthetic Down We offer as an option, hypo-allergenic synthetic down versions of the Lumbar Pillow and Headrest Insert. These pillows are exactly the same in all respects to our regular pillows, with the exception that they are stuffed with hypo-allergenic synthetic down matching the characteristics that we demand from our feather & down fill. |
